A huge wasteland area was made into a park in 1880 and was desginated as a place of scenic beauty in 1922. In the area between Mt. Wakakusa and Mt. Kasuga, such famous temples and shrines as Kofukuji, Todaiji and the Kasuga Grand Shrine are located. There are about 1200 gentle deers roaming freely in the park. The park is also known as Deer Park.

On our way back, we saw a queue outside a shop. As a curious tourist, we joined the queue and bought this stuff to eat. We have no idea what is this but it sure tastes good! Its like a sticky green tea paste filled with red bean on the inside. This "bun" was made on the spot and people are buying boxes!

It is very easy to reach NARA from Kyoto by the JR train. Before our trip, we bought the 7-days JR Rail Pass and this comes to useful throughout our stay in Japan.
It only took us less than 1 hour to reach NARA. Upon arriving at the station, go to the Nara City Tourist Information Office to get a map. The friendly people at the information office speaks English and they are really helpful.
Basically, NARA is a small town. Most major tourist attractions are easily reach by foot. There are also local bus. We did not take the bus. We walk alot! :o)

Favorite thing: Can't remembered where is this place. We stopped for a rest halfway and found this temple with its big lanterns hanging outside. Thought it is quite cool.
