  • Microbrewery

    Inawashiro Restaurants

There are 4 varieties of beer on offer here, and they are not too bad. I found the dark beer most to my liking. The tasting set, pictured, is what I ordered. Food is pretty good as well, good German style fare.

  • The Black Kura coffee house

    Kitakata Restaurants

Between the main shopping street and Minamimachi (main section of kura storehouses) you will find a unique type of kura, built with black bricks and arched windows. One is a restaurant with is great for a short stop. I highly recommend the whip cream coffee. Check out the picture. Their cakes are also pretty good. Enjoy!

  • Sake History Museum

    Kitakata Things to Do

Like Kitakata, Aizu-Wakamatsu is also famous for sake. To be honest though, there isn’t as much sake in Aizu even though it’s a much larger city. Certainly you would be better off exploring the breweries kitakata. I did both, but than I am obsessed with sake. The down side to this museum is that it cost money, but its only 300 yen. The will get you...

  • Tea at the castle

    Kitakata Things to Do

While at the castle its worth a look at the tea room area off on the other side of the castle grounds. Tea ceremonies were very important in Aizu so its of historic importance… for tea. You can also get a cup of tea here. If you’re not all that interested in tea than you should give this a miss.
