Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: During winter, there can be a lot of snow in Ogimachi. You may want to bring your boots, although at the guesthouse I stayed at, you could borrow their colourful rubber boots. Also remember to dress warmly. The area is located in the valley and the temperature is much colder than the surrounding regions. When I was there in April, the snow was still almost knee-deep even though in regions like Tokyo and Kyoto, the weather was pleasant enough for the cherry blossoms to start blooming.
