What to buy: When in Gifu ken you have to buy some senbei. It is a sort of ricecracker. It can be salted, but we have tasted some sweet ones as well. In Takayama there are some shops where you can see how it is cooked.

What to buy: The area is known for its mountain vegetables. You can buy them fresh or pickled. And they are sold in many shops as well as on the local market.

What to buy: There are many sake breweries in Gifu ken. In Takayama you can find a few in the old shoppingstreet Sannomachi.
Sake breweries can be recognized by the ball hanging in front of the brewery.
