Tourists everywhere
If you think the Shirakawago district is a rustique and peacefull farmers village. You are wrong! Since Unesco put it on the World Heritage Site list , many tourist visit. Ogimachi is the main cluster of 50 Gassho houses. When we visited it was raining cats and dogs and still at 9:00 am the tourists were there, all covered in plastic but with their cameras...So if you don?t like crowds, Ogimachi and Shirakawago are not were you want to be.
