Ishidangai is what made Ikaho Onsen famous nationwide. It is an up-slope street with three hundred sixty five steps and is exclusive for pedestrians. The steps lead to Ikaho Shrine. You can find some nice shops, cafes, and some target-shooting places. At the midpoint of the slope there are some steps with Akiko Yosano poem inscribed, which is also picked for memorial photos or TV coverage.

Mikuni Mountains is the mountain range which divides Gumma and Niigata. From the outlooks or rooms of Ikaho hotels you may be able to view these snowy mountains. Over these mountain peaks lies Niigata Prefecture, coined as "Snow Country" by Nobel leaureate Yasunari Kawabata. Ikaho also boasts the great views of Mount Tanigawa peaks on a clear fine day.

Ikaho Onsen in Gumma and Yuzawa Onsen in Niigata are also toured together. From Ikaho Onsen first get to Shibukawa station either by bus or taxi. Then take Joetsu Honsen Line bound for Mizukami and take another train bound for either Echigo Yuzawa or Nagaoka. Then get off at Echigo Yuzawa station. It takes about one and a half hours from Shibukawa to Echigo-Yuzawa.

From Ikaho Onsen to Lake Haruna there is a bus line available. Get a Gumma bus from Ikaho Bus Terminal bound for Haruna-ko Onsen Yusuge. It is better to book 9:20 morning bus ticket in advance. Get off at Haruna-ko bus stop. Information Center is about five minutes walk from the bus station close to Yumeji Takehisa Poetry Monument.
