When the Japanese go on holiday they bring food (cookies especially) back to friends and coworkers instead of souvenirs. This is more practical and it gives the others a taste of the vacation (literally). Miyajima and Hiroshima are famous for their cookies. Momiji is very delicious and comes with a variety of fillings (chocolate, red bean, cream, etc...)
