Onomichi Ramen seems to be very popular as evidenced by the queues waiting to eat at the various noodle shops in town. There is even a 'ramen map' which shows were the various shops are located.
We waited for around 20 minutes to get into this one, and it was worth the wait. Not expensive either, good value. This one in particular is right near the entrance to the ropeway.

Onomichi is in Hiroshima Prefecture. If you are coming from the West (Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Himeji, etc) you will reach JR Onomichi Station before you reach JR Hiroshima Station.
If you want to get to Onomichi from Hiroshima, you can take a 60 min limousine bus from Hiroshima.
JR Onomichi Station is NOT a Shinkansen Station, so if you are taking Nozomi you will have to transfer to a local line.

Onomichi Shopping Street is the covered shopping arcade that sells local crafts/souvenirs, clothing, daily goods, stationary, etc. This shopping street is about a 4-5 min walk from JR Onomichi Station.
