Calbee is a brand of potato chips in Japan. They are my favorite!! I was so happy to happen upon Calbee Potato in Furano. Hokkaido is famous for potatoes, as well as sweet corn, seafood, & dairy products.
I don`t know if they give tours of the factory (probably not), but I was happy just to take a picture next to the sign. :)

The lavendar fields of Furano are the most famous in Japan. The best time to go & see them is in the summer time, from mid-May. The smell of lavendar pervades your senses when you arrive. Drive with your windows open!!

About 15 minutes from JR Bibaushi, it's one of many farms in the area.
Go to the top of the hillock for a view of the neighbouring houses and fields.

Furano is beautiful at any time of the year. I went there in the summertime as lavender was blooming. It is the land of the rolling plains and quaint farmhouses dotting the landscape.
