You must keep warm and avoid icy falls in winter

by RoseAmano

Gloves, portable iron oxide type air/friction activated type body heater packs, heavy socks, hats, strap-on spike treads may be easily purchased at convenience stores or airport/train shops. To avoid slips and falls it is highly recommended to bring slip resistant winter boots or shop for them in local department stores. In Sapporo much of the pavement for pedestrians were pleasantly free of ice and snow, but park grounds such as where Snow Festival is located are not.

Hokkaido is COLD!!

by KevinMichael

I always bring a backpack whereever I go. For winter it is really cold in Hokkaido. You need good winter clothing: a thick jacket, a hat, gloves, sunglasses (to avoid snow blindness), snow boots or shoes, and thermals if possible.
