    Motorcycle Rental in Hokkaido

Lake Otankope, an hour ride from Sapporo

Yes, Motorcycle rental in Hokkaido is not only possible, it is highly recommended. From May till October Hokkaido offers motorcycle riders some of the most scenic routes in the world. There are a number of places that rent Motorbikes. My favourite is Eagle Motorcycles in Sapporo.
Bikes available range from 1300cc to the 50cc Honda Cub. The Honda Cub is a good choice for day trips around Sapporo. One suggested route is to Lake Shikotsu. Sure, its slow on a 50cc bike, but a lot of fun and the slow speed lets you take in a lot more.

To hire a bike, you will need an International Drivers License. There are some particular laws for 50cc bikes, so please respond to this article if you need more details.

Come and see an orange carpet at Hokkaido Governor's Official Residence in autumn

You can walk through the garden of the residence from 8:45 to 5:30 daily from the end of April till November. In autumn, you can enjoy the change of the colors of the trees. The ground covered with the fallen leaves looks like a luxury orange carpet.

we went to an onsen nr Jozankei, about 60 mins by bus from Sapporo. This one was not linked to a hotel and was a natural area of hot volcanic spring water coming directly from the ground. The location was stunning; a natural pool on the side of a wooded mountain. Snow was falling on us as we lay over rocks in the HOT water, steam rising. (minus 10 outside)One of the most memorable and pleasurable experiences of my life!! You HAVE to do this!

Pales in comparison to Hakodate's which is more pedestrian friendly. Mainly a street of seafood vendors and restaurants. Prices are steeper than Hakodate - suggest you give it a miss if you have visited the one in Hakodate.

    Shoroi Koibito Factory

The Shiroi Koibito chocolate snacks are very popular with tourists to Hokkaido and almost everywhere, you'd see it being sold as souvenirs. I thought a visit to the factory would be boring and touristy but was somewhat surprised by the amount of stuff we could see and experience there. Interesting to know about the history of chocolates, even more watching the production lines, and how manual work is still required for quality control.

The garden around the factory is well decorated with roses, fountains and miniature houses. Children would adore this place.

Yes, Dec isn't really snow festival in Odori Park. The snow festival starts from Feb.

There are a number of displays installed and lighted up. Nice and not so crowded. The Park has a few sections (separated by roads) and each section is different.

The main prominent feature is the tower standing tall and proud at one end of the park.

    Fountains in Odori Park

Odori Park is the broad median of Odori ("large street") in the center of Sapporo, separating the city into North and South. The park stretches over twelve blocks and offers pleasant green space during the warmer months, while staging the annual Sapporo Snow Festival in February.
I visited Sapporo in May 2008 and there were tulips and other flowers in full blossom. The park is popular amongst elderly Japanese couples who spend the day strolling or painting. Japanese youngsters perform break-dancing and skate-boarding in the park.
