Quite a very tough climb up to the hot spring. Only 2 of us made it. You have to climb next to the river. It is very slippery and sometimes you have to do some free climb action as well.
The way down was even more dangerous. That other guy slipped and fell into the small river. Glad it wasn't to steep on that part of our walk. Nothing happened. He just got a little wet, but hey - the water was warm :)

If you are an early bird, just check out the harbor of Utoro. You might get lucky and see some fish action while the fishermen unload their boats.

I couldn't believe it, but it was just the right time to watch the salmon coming up the rivers.
You just have to see that!!!

These falls are located along route 334 in the Shiretoko area. The waterfall forks into two on the way toward the basin, and streams into the Sea of Ohkotsk. Its nickname "Soubi-no-taki" means "forked beautiful waterfall". There is an observatory overlooking the waterwall & from there you can have a clear view of the falls & Sea of Ohkotsk.
I stopped here on my way to Shiretoko Lake.

I arrived quite late so I checked out the area and walked through some small forest to the ocean.
Suddenly I saw that wild deer right next to me.
...Glad it wasn't a bear

Shiretoko National Park has a bear population of about 600 brown bears.
To bad, I didn't see any...

Favorite thing: The Shiretoko national park has many peaks. This is Rausu-dake the highest of them. The daughter of the emperor already climbed it.
