In 1992 Japan signed the Agreement of World Heritage list; HIMEJI CASTLE & HORYUJI TEMPLE were recommended for the World Heritage in Japan.
Main Tower with the smaller towers & corridors connecting these towers have been registered as national treasures. The Cosmetic Tower, 27 yagura, 15 gates & 1000 m long earthen walls have all been registered as important cultural treasures.

Favorite thing: do what you came here for, what else? But before crossing the walls it's better to walk all the way around the castle: there's a quiet park with a pond that encircles it, where you can even see some swans.

Fondest memory: The Japanese children are wearing the traditional clothes in the "753" celebration. We happened to meet such a child in Himeji.

Fondest memory: There are some "warriors" in the traditional dressings wandering in the Himeji castle plaza. You can take a picture with them freely.
