    ----: Breakdancers!!

by heywinks Updated Oct 12, 2002

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Want to see Japanese breakdancers? Almost nightly around 8pm, there are a few young Japanese youths who like to play music and breakdance here. They are cool to watch and they try hard to get the moves down. They sometimes get an audience of young girls watching them.

Dress Code: They often wear helmets when doing their moves! It`s cute to see.

This place is happening almost every night of the week. Great drink specials, even on Saturday. Dj's spin current hip-hop, rap, and even old school stuff. There is a great mixed crowd. The owner is almost always there, and he is a great guy. Happy hour is from 7:00pm til 9:00pm everyday, drinks are only 400 yen. At night women get in free before 11pm, and guys pay 1000 yen after 9pm, but it includes 1 drink. Visit http://www.clubroxyhimeji.com for more info.

Dress Code: There isn't a dress code, but if you are from the west coast of America, especially Los Angeles, wear something from there. They love L.A.

    TIGER PUB: A FOREIGNER`S BAR

by heywinks Updated Jun 5, 2003

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is where alot of foreigners come to drink at night. English drink menu (no food served, at least from what I saw), English-speaking staff. The bar is small, only 4-5 tables & the bar itself which seats about 10. It gets crowded quick because of its size.
The atmosphere is ok & the people are friendly.
There`s not much happening in Himeji at night, so if you want to go & drink, this is the only place you can go if you can`t speak Japanese.

    Dress Code: Shoes required.

  • Bar Angelot: English Service... :-)

by kujala Updated Nov 8, 2013

I was staying a couple of days in Himeji with my friend and we found out this new bar. The bartenders are from Europe, the other one's name was Frank, he was from Austria, and then there was Matthew from United Kingdom. They said there is also more European people working there. It's a simple small bar and it has a warm feeling. You can sing karaoke if you want but as there was no other customers, we were listening some good ambient music. The karaoke selection doesn't have too many English songs. I recommend this place if you want to have English service in Himeji... ;-)

South of JR Himeji Station: New Wheelies!!!

by heywinks Updated Jul 9, 2003

For about 2 months now, I`ve seen a new sport involving bikes in Himeji. Young teenagers, male & female, doing different kinds of tricks with their bikes. It`s not just any bike, but what looks like a child-size mountain bike with thicker wheels & spokes so that the bike doesn`t fall when its tilted. They teenagers do wheelies, spinning around & around, jumping on one wheel, riding then twisting & turning, stopping abruptly & then doing another trick, etc.
I`ve stopped to watch but not for long since I`m usually on my way home from work. They are pretty cool though.
I`ve only seen them near the JR train station, south side, between the bus stops & taxi stand. There`s enough room there for them to do their tricks. They aren`t there during the day. Go around 9pm at night, weekdays.
