You are in Kobe but want to eat Okinawan food? This is the place to go. Good atmosphere & choice of sitting at a counter or table. Okinawan sake jugs line the counter & Okinawan music plays on the stereo giving a more Okinawan feel to the air.
Favorite Dish: The order style is a la carte. You will have to order about half a dozen dishes as each dish size is small. Prices vary per dish but about 600-900yen for the entrees. The salads are delicious & so is the grilled shrimp. Try the noodle dishes as well!
There are 3 locations in Kobe, but I went to only the one in Motomachi.

I`ve been here twice for lunch & instead of ordering their pasta & Italian dishes, I ordered the steak! It was delicious! Cooked with soy sauce & onions & garlic chips it is truly OISHI ("delicious" in Japanese)!!
It came as a lunch set & included bread or rice and salad. It costs 1200yen & worth the price. Come & try it!!
Also, if you like eating with a tablecloth, this is a place to go. None of that plastic found here.
PS. Their pasta is good too. I ate some of my friend`s pasta that she ordered. Light, not heavy.

This small Vietnamese restaurant is hidden away in Motomachi. There are only about 10 tables or so. It gets crowded fast. The food is light & healthy. Simple & delicious.
Don`t come for the atmosphere, but for the food.
Favorite Dish: Order the fresh spring rolls, pho (noodle soup), & vermicelli noodles w/ shrimp & pork. You will walk away completely satisfied.
The limited menu is in Vietnamese & Japanese but pictures are included for all items.

The exterior is dark brown wood. You wouldn`t even think a restaurant was in there except for the schoolroom chairs outside for guests to sit on while they wait for their table.
The restaurant is very "Japanese", meaning when you are entering & eating you FEEL like you are in Japan. Large groups can sit in private tatami matted rooms.
Favorite Dish: Menu items are a la carte. Try the tofu dishes. Fried chicken. Eggplant. Yakitori.

This is a small Italian restaurant (esta. in 1962) that serves excellent pizza and Italian w/ a Japanese flavor food. Each pizza is of course made to order and you will receive a slip of paper w/ a number on it when your pizza arrives. This number corresponds to what how many pizzas the restaurant has made since its opening & that your pizza number is original. Mine was 1053112!
There is often a wait so call to make reservations ahead of time.
Favorite Dish: We had the margherita pizza which was delicious!

Indian tapestries, lamps, & accessories decorate this restaurant. A TV plays Indian movies near the entrance. The food is good. Nan, vegetable & meat curries, samosas. Good selection & friendly waiters (who are Indian & can also speak English & Japanese).
Favorite Dish: The menu is in Japanese & English. Photos provided for some main items.
If you go for lunch, order the all-you-can-eat set which includes rice, nan, vegetable curry, meat curry, & croquette (1000yen).
