I spent quite a few evenings at this Bowling Alley in Nishijin. It is quite an experience. Maybe you have heard of those obscure bowling rules such as: you shouldn't cross the foot fault line? Well, the Japanese in this establishment either hadn't heard or didn't care. Sometimes they ran halfway down their lane before letting go of the ball. And there was no curtesy turn taking. As long as you are not a serious bowler, you can have a good laugh and a good time, but if you like to concentrate and not to have people constantly running into your lane while you are trying to get that spare, forget bowling here! At this particular alley, the scoring monitors doubled as video screens. You could pay 100 yen to blast your favorite song and monopolize all the screens. Can't tell you how many times I saw that 'Hide with Spread Beaver' video.

Dress Code: You'll have to rent a pair of bowling shoes from the bowling shoes vending machines! Just pick your size, insert 300 yen, and you've got a pair of spiffy shoes for the evening.
