Tenmonkan -- beware!
It's the major commercial centre in Kagoshima so you might be tempted to go here first and see what's around. Be careful! It's actually a major shopping arcade so you will probably end up spending more than you wanted to on things that you may not need or might be better off buying somewhere else.At the same time, it's more convenient to shop here for Kagoshima standards -- shochu, sweet potato desserts, cut glass, pottery and so on. Still, caveat emptor. Watch the people -- there's always a bevy of high school students, cool Yankee boys and girls in their best getup.. It can be fun. Escape to the Chuo park and enjoy the greenery and the breakdancers.
