Ferry Observation Deck by RoseAmano This is the view from the observation deck on the ferry. The ferry gently rocks, and leaves your head swinging to the rhythm for at least 6 hours after disembarkation. There are different classes of rooms, ranging from Private Suite w/toilet & shower, Private Room w/toilet & shower (Bunk Beds or Tatami), Shared Bunk Compartments or Shared Tatami Sleeping Space. There is a rather uncrowded big public bath and Sauna with an Ocean View. Was not so crowded considering that we went during the first day of Golden Week (Peak Travel of Spring Break Week in Japan), but seems to be a popular mode of transport among motorbike groups (obviously, as the motorbike can go with you). There are three minor branch train lines for workers to commute to the many huge industrial factories located south to Kawasaki Station. 1) JR Tsurumi Line Transfer from JR Tsurumi Station Keihin Kyuko Line 2) JR Hamakawasaki Line Transfer from JR Shi-tte Station, Nambu Line. Shi-tte Station is one stop away from Kawasaki Station on the JR Nambu Line. 3) Keihin Kyuko Kawasaki Daishi Line Transfer from Keihin Kyuko Kawasaki Station. Runs more frequently than the others, generally 4-5/hour, and is the best way to get to the famous Kawasaki Daishi Temple. These branch lines are rather cute actually as there are only a few linked cars with infrequent runs which are only few KM long. Because of the infrequent runs generally once an hour, nobody except for the commuters and train nerds (nerdresses?) like myself seem interested to ride them. Shin-Shibaura Stn. and Umi-Shibaura Stn. off the JR Tsurumi Line are the most interesting as the platform is literally constructed over the ocean's edge. You could conceivably go fishing off them, though some stations have signposts forbidding it. Umi-Shibaura Station is certainly the queerest train station and probably the most off the beaten path sort of a place I've ever experienced in the world. It's actually a terminal station right along the ocean's edge and also upon Toshiba factory grounds where the only exit leads directly to a small park and the gated entrance. Anybody may ride the train but as there is no other public road access nor any other way out, non-employees would just have wait 30 mins. to 1 hour when the train makes its return run. The park is however a great place to spend a lunch picnic and enjoy a great view and ocean breeze Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Aqualine, over Tokyo Bay by RoseAmano The Aqualine expressway depicted by the blue line, 1/2 of which is submerged under Tokyo Bay and the other 1/2 upon a bridgeway above the sea, opened with much fanfare in 1997. This links the south industrial section of Kawasaki to Kisarazu, a small farming and fishing town. Though at first glance appearing to provide a nice "shortcut" through the Tokyo Bay, the fanfare was muted by public criticism of the rather pricey tolls - 3,000 yen per passenger car for single crossing, or for return journey from "Umihotaru" scenic rest area with observation deck, shopping and eating. From Kawasaki Station, in front of the well-marked "More's" department store, there is also a public bus which departs once or twice an hour which costs up to 1,400 yen for single complete crossing. Do you know 'Daruma' in Japan? You can see many darumas around the Kawasaki Daishi as well as Asakusa district. In the remote past... AD 600. One of the Buddhism God whose name was Daruma(Bodhidharuma) borned in India. He bringed ZEN. He had continued to practice zazen for 9 years! Zazen means to concentrate spirit and meditate by sitting silently. The Daruma dolls stand for not to fall. If you push the doll, it 'll tumble but never fall. So the 'Daruma' is a symbol of lucky! Usually it is sold in blind at first. If you get your wish, you draw eyes on the daruma. Leave a Comment

While waiting have a book.. by yen_2 Inside of the twin good looking building is this one..There's a big pound in the center of the lobby. There are nice chairs circling the pound. You can fancy stopping by in there and have a good book to read if you can't do anything..Well, this is what I did;-) You don't have to bring along some snacks if you're not into a tight budget as you can find caffe's and convenient stores around. At the back of the building there's a post office. Leave a Comment Address: Kawasaki,Kanagawa-Ken,Japan

Spring Trees as pretty at it is by yen_2 All streets in Japan or most of it are very clean and has trees along by. During the fall/spring seasons, you can view these trees along when you're walking which is pretty to look at. As Kawasaki is a small city in Kanagawa-Ken there isn't much to see in this place or maybe I didn't know. Don't worry, when I come back I will see to it that I can fully view this cute city. The photo is near in Kawasaki Station going to hubbys office. And you will notice a JR train passes by. Leave a Comment Address: Kawasaki Station,Kanagawa-Ken,Japan
