Sold blind Daruma!

Do you know 'Daruma' in Japan?
You can see many darumas around the Kawasaki Daishi as well as Asakusa district.
In the remote past... AD 600. One of the Buddhism God whose name was Daruma(Bodhidharuma) borned in India. He bringed ZEN. He had continued to practice zazen for 9 years!
Zazen means to concentrate spirit and meditate by sitting silently.
The Daruma dolls stand for not to fall.
If you push the doll, it 'll tumble but never fall.
So the 'Daruma' is a symbol of lucky!
Usually it is sold in blind at first. If you get your wish, you draw eyes on the daruma.

Kawasaki Daishi Temple is to Kawasaki, as Asakusa is to East Tokyo.

During New Year's Day, massive crowds of people gather to celebrate.

Shopping stalls line the walkway, selling lots of souvenier items, such as locally made Japanese sweets, or "Daruma" dolls, upon which to obtain a blessing to reach a goal.
