Shirakawa Yoshimi-jinja is a shrine in the Shirakawa-suigen and was built in the 15th century as the Guardian deity of Shirakawa-suigen.

Shirakawa Suigen is the fountainhead of Shirakawa river that is one of the first class rivers of Japan.
The quantity of water that spouts with the sand at the bottom of the pond is approximately 60 tons per minute.

Closer to the rim on the East-side (and South West) side, there are almost totally hidden hot-springs. No massive tourism (they go to Beppu and Mt.Unsen) but lovely little secrets waiting to be discovered. Therefor hiking in and around Mt. Aso is highly recommended and will leave you with many lovely memories of the Land of the Rising Sun.
