This place is recommended if you have kids, but my kids were less than enthusiastic about this place. It is quite expensive and many rides and shows cost extra when you get in. The rides were not that good, nor was the 'entertainment'. You could watch a samurai show in action, but it was actually dull. There are souvenirs sold at inflated prices and they are very tacky. It all seemed like a big money grab.
Unique Suggestions: My Japanese friend took us here with her son, so I couldn't say no, but I urge you to be more assertive.
Fun Alternatives: At least you are not too far from some other places worth checking out. Ganbatte! (Good luck)

Uzumasa Toei Eiga-mura, 'Toei Movie Land' in Uzumasa. The advertising makes you think of a Samurai version of the Universal Studio's themepark. Reality is that it is VERY expensive, small, boring, tacky ... in short a real rip-off, especially since there are so many better things to do in Kyoto. You may even see REAL film crews working if you just walk around some of the historic areas.
