The Mimitsu area in the city is designated a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic buildings, and there remain much of the atmosphere of the 19th century, including buildings of old times, earthen walls, and stone pavements.

Ebino Plateau, is located on the border between Miyazaki-ken and Kagoshima-ken, and belonging to Kirishima-Yaku National Park.
The entrance to Ebino Plateau is the starting point for a tour of lakes and climbing Mt. Karakuni.
Mt. Karakuni, 1700m above sea level, is the highest of Kirishima Mountains and has a large crater 900m in diameter and 300m in depth.
Along the mountain trails, you can enjoy the sight of wild azaleas in early summer, pampas grass in autumn, and snow-covered tree in winter, for each season.

Takachiho Gorge is a V-shaped gorge, created by the Gokase River having eroded the Aso lava.
Manai-no-taki falls is a popular highlight for the clouds of spray that rise up from the falling water.
You can enjoy fine view of four seasons; the gorge is laid out promenades alongside, being decorated with mountain cherry blossoms and the flower of azaleas and wisterias from spring till early summer, and with red and yellow leaves in autumn.

Hyuga is a region on the east coast of Kyushu facing the Pacific Ocean and is part of Nippo-Kaigan (coast line) Quasi-National Park.

Takachiho Jinja is a shrine close to Takachiho-kyo Gorge, and was built by Suijin Emperor approximately 1900 years ago.
The local iwato kagura dance are performed for an hour each evening from 8pm.

Udo Jingu is the vermilion painted shrine in the cave located at the Udo cape.
A popular sport is to buy five “undama” (luck stones) and try to get them into a shallow depression on top of one of the turtle-shaped rocks.
Succeeding at this task is supposed to make your wish come true.
Wishes are usually related to marriage and childbirth, most likely because the boulders in front of the cave are said to represent Emperor Jimmu’s mother’s breasts.
