To quote lonely planet, "For such a big city, Nagasaki's nightlife is rather subdued." Now that's an understatement. Everything though is concentrated in a place called Shianbashi. It means "the bridge of pondering." Legend has it that men on their way home would stop at the bridge, which leads to "nightlife" spots, and ponder whether to go home or continue on. There is a scent of debauchery in this place. I saw many young ladies standing on the sidewalk, alone, and lots of drunk guys in groups, and then the few groups of girls leaving the karaoke rooms. I looked for a couple "gaijin" haunts, but they either weren't there or closed.
