Nice structures in the park. You may feel that you are in Netherlands whether than in Japan. Can see the creativity mindset and realize what the Japanese are capable of doing. Way to Go. Very proud of them.

Completed in 1992 this Dutch Theme park is about 30 minutes south of Sasebo on the Omura Bay. Huis Ten Bosch is a reproduction of a Dutch town. This place also has the Teddy Bear Kingdom with collections of Teddy Bears from around the world. A massive variety of cheeze and chocolates are also widely sold here. This is a nice place with classic recreated Dutch buildings that after your day here you'll swear you were not on Japanese soil. There are also many hotels on and outside the property.

If you have 50 minutes of time you can enjoy a relaxing sightseeing boat tour of Kujukushima at the Saikai National Park. This will give you a close tour of the some 99 Islands just west of Sasebo. There are also many oyster farms you'll come across on this tour. You will set sail on the Pearl Queen, a simulated sailing vessel powered by diesel engine. There are great Japanese restaurants on the pier and an Italian restaurant named Pinocchio's.

The Oyster Festival is held at Kashimae Bay. There are several miniature grills set up for people to use to cook oysters. There are vendors on the pier selling bags of oysters, coals for the fire, necessary appliances for grilling and of course beer. If you like grilled oysters and beer you'd love this. The festival happens in February, but they do a smaller version of it in November which is when I went. It went down on the weekend and was well worth going. I'll definitely be there for a few of the days in February if we're in port.

It's another shrine around the Sasebo area. It's not very big at all. I'm guessing people go there to wish for good luck when they go fishing. It looks like the God's at this shrine are a little thirsty since there are a good amount of empty beer bottles laying around.

The Shrine is the place where people go to speak with the God's. They first go inside and wash their hands and mouth so they are clean when they speak with the Gods. Then they pay their donation, ring a bell in order to wake them up and make their wish. It's a pretty interesting sight to see if you've never been to a shrine. Definitely worth at least one visit.
