No matter how cool someone tells you it is to drink this crap, I can tell you from experience that it's a bad idea. Strong alcohol mixed with snake venom does not mix well. I took a shot of this crap back in 1998 and got sick as hell. Not because I was drunk, I had an allergic reaction to it. Imagine that, having an allergic reaction to snake venom. So have a sip if you dare, but don't say I didn't tell you so.
Common throughout Japan, if you are a foreigner you will be discriminated against.
Managers of a restaurant, a bar, and a karaoke parlor have since taken down their exclusionary signs. Although they will come to the door, crossing there arms and say " Japanese Only ", "Sorry" as they quickly shew you out the door. Although it is getting better, they still have quite a problem throughout the area.
They hide the reason that your Japanese isn't good enough and either is there english, so they do not want to provide you bad service!
But who knows?
I just carry on and go to the places that do want my patronage. I will list many that give great service!
This jackass tried to steal away a bar girl that I was talking too. He's a real jackass. He got pissed at me because I got his date's friend so drunk she was puking in a tuperware bucket thing in the bar. It was pretty entertaining. So after his date and her friend left I started talking to Yuka and this jerkoff tried to get in my way. That was a mistake. I embarrassed him enough that he finally left the bar. He really pissed me off. Normally I wouldn't put someone's picture on here and talk badly about them like this, but this guy really irritated me that night. I wish I knew his email address so I could send him the link to this little write up about him.
Moving to Japan and want to bring your pet?
The key thing to note is that, for most , the process will take at least seven (7) months from the date of the first rabies vaccination, so advance planning is critical. We are told there are no exceptions and that animals which have not met all requirements described below will have to be quarantined upon arrival until all are met.

Fleet Activities Sasebo, US Navy Base
Although Fleet Activities Sasebo is what probably put's Sasebo on the map this place and the people of this base generate alot of revenue to the local economy of Sasebo. Though good for the economy the image shown by it's inhabitants can sometimes be negative as seen by local Japanese residents. As with many US Military installations on foriegn soil around the world there are always pros and cons of having one. The warning or danger of having a place like this is when a few Americans get into trouble outside the confines of it's gates it always paints a sour picture for Americans in general.

Drunken American Sailors
If your a tourist here in Sasebo and end up finding yourself in Sailor Town (North End of the Ginza) on a payday night, please do not attempt to talk or look at them. Because they are drunk and angry sex starved men with their testosterones boiling.
Limited To Americans
The region known as "Sake Town" (Yamagata-cho) on the south end of Saruku City 403 Arcade (Ginza) is largely for Japanese customers when coming to bars, clubs, and adult oriented business. However there are very limited establishments in which Americans are welcomed such as Lisa Filipina's, Celeberty Pub Check-In, or Shades Of Manila. Though you can enter a Japanese only establishment as long as you are accompanied by a Japanese this area is usually not frequented by US Sailors.

Sasebo is a small and clean and safe place to raise your family. The first real hazard I have witnessed after living here two years is Jaywalking. All of the crosswalks are clearly marked and all have sound activation to ensure you know when it is and when it's not safe to cross. I have seen several pedestrians get hit and a small child get killed, so please just wait for the light!

These spiders are all over the place. I don't know if they're poisonous or not, but I don't want to find out. I hate spiders. They kind of look like a garden spider, but I have no idea if that's what they are or not.
Centipedes and Millipeded Dangers
Centipedes and Millipedes are very common in Japan, especially during the "rainy season". If bitten, seek medical attention immediately.
Here are the three main varieties
1. MUKADE - Centipede
Venom- Yes, if bitten, may experience flu like symptoms. Venom from a sub species is potent enough to kill a small child.
2. GEJIGEJI - Centipede
Venom- Mildly poisonous
3. YASUDE - stinky unpleasent odor Millipede
Venom- No, however secretes a fluid that causes pain and turns skin brown.
Sometimes it can cause blisters and if it get in the blood stream can cause illness or death.
The Squat and Drop
I thought I'd put the picture of the Japanese toilet on here for those who haven't seen one. I don't recommend trying to take a crap in one of these. You might end up with a mess on your pant leg.
