Fireworks with Friends
I absolutely love the fireworks festivals ('hanabi') in Japan! They are incredible! Especially since fireworks are still legal to buy freely in any department/convenience store! If you don't have the time to visit a major fireworks festival, you can always make-do with one in your own backyard!Well, that's what my friends and I did one evening after a casual dinner party. Along with some local kids, we walked over to the deserted Junior High School and enjoyed the excitement of 500 yen fireworks!!It was really fun! But I'm still amazed that these things are LEGAL!! The amount of accidents and injuries caused by fireworks in Australia brought about a total fireworks ban more than 10 years ago. But it seems Japan is not so worried (or the people are a lot more careful!), so I was able to relive my childhood days in a night of pure fun!
