Cherry Blossoms and Snowflakes

by phoebelosophy

Tucked away in the South of Nara-ken is a delightful little town called Yoshino. This place is actually high up in the mountains, so during winter, it receives a nice amount of snow, and during summer it remains relatively cool (while the rest of Nara Prefecture swelters in the heat!)I've visited Yoshino a few times and found it beautiful during all of my trips. The cherry blossoms in Yoshino are quite famous, but it seems only the locals have cottoned on to this - and it remains hidden from most foreign tourists. If you've got time, I'd definitely recommend squeezing in Yoshino as a day-trip, as it's a splendid place to visit no matter what season you go.It's about an hours train ride South from Yamato-Yagi Station (the hub for most train travel in Nara-ken). Pack your lunch and your walking shoes!
