The cities are the places you want to go to if you want a "real" nightlife. In Tokyo, you can go to Roppongi & dance the night away. The same in Shinsaibashi in Osaka. In Kobe you can go to pubs owned by foreigners. But what if you are in the boonies with no city lights for kilometers around?? Well, what locals do are go to karaoke boxes, go to a sake restaurant or bar, or an izakaya (the restaurants with the brightly lit red lanterns lined up outside). Except for the big cities, everything closes pretty early here in Japan. Everyone`s home by 10pm!! These listed establishments open the latest in the small towns. There are the youngsters in the small towns who are in dire need of something to do & have to make their own kind of nightlife. You can find some of them gathering with their cool cars with the loud roaring engines at the local 24-hr convenient store, near the local train station, or cruising down the main street. If you are desperate & need to go out & do something, then head down to the local pachinko parlor (slot machines). They can`t be missed with their bright Vegas-style lighting!! Ha ha!! Well I don't know the name of it but it was located in the Ueno district. But reccomendations for this karaoke bar aren't really that useful - I assume most of them are the same. It was my last night in Tokyo and hadn't planned anything special. One of them things that just "happened" I guess. I tell ye, I'd proper sandpapered me vocal chords by 6 o clock that morning. It seemed to me at the time that the entire bloody building was dedicated to karaoke. That's about 5 floors, each floor having say 20 small rooms. A lot of you will know this already but what you do is, you book a small pristine-white room with a monitor and a remote control. You've typicall got a manual listing the available songs-you key em in and wait till your song comes on. The qords appear on the screen so you'll have no trouble singin' along.
DRESS CODE?? You must be joking. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: I don't know, somewhere in Ueno centre.Directions: Yeah like the centre. Very central. Lots of them there (or at least 2 anyway)

Japan is the birthplace of karaoke (kara-oke 'empty orchestra') and remains enormously popular. Rather than the embarassing spectacle I'm familiar with in the UK, in Japan a group of friends can rent a small room complete with all the equipment. In front of my friends I wasn't afraid to make a fool of myself and had to have the mic prised out of my hand. Of course, a beer or two loosened my tonsils :)

Bang,Bang is what I call the hard hitters of the drummers. The shake of the speakers to the shaking of the hips. Everyone has the best time.
I notices a lot of short skirts. Oh' la la. Long and sleeky legs with high pumps makes plenty to look at. I checked out the Formula one race. Man! I'll tell you those high cut swimsuits with hose and long legs that flow right up..Well you what I mean. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: RoppongiDirections: Downtown

Karaoke probably originated in Japan and they do it best. There is no open bar full of strangers. It is just you and your mates in a booth. Singing to your hearts content. So even if you suck like me there will be no booing. Booths vary. I have seen some that even have hot tubs and a view of the bar, others with free ice-cream and costumes. You will be surprised what you can find. One very good option is Nomihodai. It means all you can drink and that is exactly what you get. Times and prices vary.
