Roppongi: Roppongi

by san_miguel

This clubbing district especially caters to foreigners. This is welcome relief to all us 'gai-jins' who'd usually get kicked out of Japanese-only places. dress to impress! ...unless you wanna sit in the corner and talk to the potted plants.

Roppongi!!! Go to Roppongi in Tokyo. It is absolutly awesome, never been anywhere like it. Only thing is there are a lot of people standing in the street trying to get you to go into their club. Go with them, if you like it stay if you don't leave and go find GAS PANIC!

With IRORI: With IRORI

by Shizuka

It's Irori, Japanese old fire system, very rear to see recently. I guess there are still in northern area. It's not only for warming but boiling kettle or pan like this. We can also grill fish or rice cake sticking by bar. It's great time to drink sake(Japanese archol) with Japanese dish served in the pot around this IRORI!!

by Vanille_rum

Must go to Roppongi, Gas Panic as a first step. there are tons of US militaries people and Japanese women who like these people, so you wont feel ailen. plus, free to enter but have to pay for the drink...(one Colona will be $7!) but you can just hang around the street and take a look at Japanese people. it is really a fun place. they pray mostly US pop musics. most clubs open from 9 to 5am, but get peak around 1-3am. nothing.

by doronjyo

None specific. The bars in Roppongi are nice. It is also a great place to go if you are getting a little homesick because the other area is filled with tourist. Most of the bars in the area are ran by English speakers so you should have no problem. Another great thing to do is Karaoke. Unlike most American Karaoke which is done in front of everyone at a bar most places in Japan you actually rent a room with your friends. They have a phone on the wall to call and order drinks and snacks which is nice because you don't have to get up. If you like video games you can normally find a arcade and Tokyo has some of the best. Pachinko is also fun but I don't recommend it on a regular basis because you can blow a lot of money fast. For all things I have talked about you can pretty much wear nomal clothes whatever is comfortable. If you are going to a nice bar you may want to get a little more...

Andrei222's Nightlife Tip

by Andrei222

Tokyo and Osaka are two of the world's largest cities--except for the very young and very old, Nihonjin like to enjoy themselves just like anyone else. Places of entertainment are open late. Take a virtual tour on VT of any city for the nightlife entertainment that interests you.

Downtown in any major city....

by Lutz_H

Downtown in any major city. Usually located near all train/subway stations.Incredibly crowded everywhere, especially on weekend nights. People are always interested in talking to you as foreigners are still 'exotic creatures' in Japan. To speak at least a little Japanese is highly recommendable as most Japanese don't speak a foreign language. If you don't like to drink, don't bother to visit a pub, bar or restaurant in the evening - nothing goes without beer and sake. Don't miss the last train home or you will get stuck - unless you have too much disposable income for one of the outrageously expensive taxis. None, from conservative (Japanese often go directly after work in their uniform or suit) to freaky - everything is possible.

In Osaka... just be in...

by Silver_cloud

In Osaka... just be in Namba-Sinsaibashi or Umeda. Once you enter the evening here on a weekend, you can't come out till the sun rises again Be it Bar Isn't It or Sam and Dev or the endless spots. The evening reamins young till the dawn. You should wear clothes :-)
