Favorite thing: Take the 'Jigoku-tour' or 'Hell's tour', that the Beppu-touristorganisation organised and which will bring you along all famous hot-springs of the town and their strange variety of colours. From blood-red to poisonous green. Blubbering grey mudponds and high jumping geysers. To complete the tour you might enjoy a Japanese bathinghouse or go to the ones near the beach and let yourself be buried in the (they say) healthy mud).
Fondest memory: The amazement when I found out that the music I heared everywhere in the mainstreets of Beppu, came from the guther!!! In the pitts along the road were speakers that spread opera's and classic songs. Totally crazy!

Fondest memory: These are places where hot water rises to the surface, creating different effects, such as a geyser and bubbling mud.

Beppu. Wellknown for it's natural hotsprings. A nice and touristic place. Be sure to enjoy the feeling of a traditional japanese bath.
