KeiKaen, Japanese garden

A visit to KEIKAEN GARDEN in the town of Takebe, Okayama will heighten your aroma senses. This garden, overlooking rice fields & farmland, is filled with flora & fauna & birds. There are greenhouses with cactus, goldfish ponds, aloe, & plants that I don`t know the names of (ha ha!)), parrots, pheasants, & other birds.
Located here is also a teahouse & of course a souvenir shop selling Japanese sweets.
Located about 8 min. by car from Takebe International Villa, near the train tracks.
300yen/adult admission fee. Open 9am-6pm, closed Dec 29-Jan 2.

This German theme park is located on a mountain top in Okayama. Here you can eat German sausages & drink beer! There are a few restaurants serving German/Japanese food, alot of souvenir shops selling German goods & Okayama local goods, excellent landscaped gardens, a children`s playground, & an animal petting area.

Many people speed through Okayama on the Shinkansen on their way to Hiroshima and Kyushu and never get off. They are missing a lot of genuininely interesting expereinces by not doing so.

Though the castle is a rather poor recreation of the one destroyed in the war, the park which surrounds it is very pretty.
