Cliffs from where Okinawans were forced to jump

The Battle of Okinawa was one of the bloodier battles of the war, and the southern part of the main island, particularly present day Itoman city is where a lot of death and suffering took place as the Japanese army fought a battle of attrition, hoping to buy some time for the defence of the mainland.

This museum shows the battle from an Okinawan perspective, and is well worth a visit in order to understand what happened
