Great great variety of sea food! all stuff are live and fresh in the market, and you can buy and eat on the 2nd floor. The price is unbelievable cheap - a huge plate of sashimi cost only 1000 yen, least then 1/10 of what it may cost in Shanghai, and the quality was superb!!!
Favorite Dish: All of them!!!

First you go to market to choose seafood you want. Then they will bring the food to restaurants on 2nd floor to prepare for you. Fee is cheap compare to Hong Kong Sai Kung market.
Also you can see a lot of pork related food to sell.

I came across this nice icecream-shop and still had some YEN to spend and I was also happy to see that they have inscriptions in english and so I decided to taste some of their icecream. At first they made a fresh crepe and started to fill it according to my wishes. In a way that crepe finally looked rather like a work of art,and finally the crepe was rolled in and I could start eating it.
Favorite Dish: Icecream in a crepe, as explained above !

This was a restaurant where we had a late lunch and this place was convenientely situated opposite of the main-entrance of Shuri-castlen and next to their souvenir-shop.
Favorite Dish: Japanese food is something I never liked very much, but we were hungry after walking around Nara and we also still had some japanese Money left over and this was our last japanese port, so we choosed something that looked even a bit european, see it in my 4th photo:

Inside Shuri castle there is a traditional restaurant-area, where you can taste some tea and a local cookie and what is best : you will sit at such typical low tables and can strech your feet underneath and the lady is serving in a traditional costume.
Favorite Dish: There were different sorts of cookies and I took some that they called "traditional" and had some tea with it. That cookie was nice but did not have any special taste that I could describe. All came for a fixed price and included also a refill of tea.

Inside Shurijo Castle, there is small cafe inside it. They said you can experience the palace style of snacks and tea. So we tried it. We felt the food taste like Chinese ones. And the room is one part of the palace which is used to serve the visitors. So you can imagine how old days lives are.

The second floor of Makishi market is full of small restaurants owned by the market people. You can choose your fish in the first floor and ask them to cook it the way you like. Or simply, choose any item of the menu they have. Everything is in Japanese but most of the places have photos of their dishes. Try:
1) Umibudo maguro don : The "umibudo" is a very exotic kind of delicious seaweed. The dish is served in a bowl. If you like sushi you will enjoy this dish. It costs aorund US$7.50. It comes with miso soup.
2) Gurukun: if you like the deep fried fish. This is one of the most asked local dishes in Okinawa.
3) Okinawa soba (soki soba). It is light and it comes with pieces of pork ribs.
It could be fun to bring a dictionary and try to communicate. Any way they can prepare a lot of vegetables, meat, chicken and fish dishes with local flavor.
Favorite Dish: Umibudo maguro don

Naha is a small city. Can use public transport. Better not to drive by yourselves as there are bus lane in rush hours. If you mistakenly drive into it, you will be fined. So be careful.
