Helios: Don't miss the beer and food

by seoulgirl Updated Mar 7, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I happened to find a great microbrewery with awesome food along street, called Helios. They had a stout, porter, hefe-weizen, pale ale, and an ale made from the goya squash. It was a great find. I wound eating and drinking there 2 days in a row. The staff was very friendly and proud of their food and brew.
    Hours: 11:30 til 11p.m. and 12 p.m on weekends

Favorite Dish: Seafood carpaccio that was absolutely killer! Clams, octopus, tuna, scallops, sword fish, served on a bed of romaine lettuce, shredded iceburg lettuce, and tomatos with a green peppercorn sauce.

Lafute, a traditional Okinawan food. Its slowly simmered pork in a sweet caramel sauce served with a side of horseradish and topped with sliced goya squash.

Homemade sausages that were out of this world with a hefe-weizen. The sausages were goya squash (If you havent guessed, the Okinawans love their goya), olive, chorizo, and Okinawan red pepper (spicy),

by JoannaMoon Updated Jul 4, 2004

The decoration of thousand small lights on the ceeling makes this izagaya(Japanese drink house) fantastic. Live band every night - enjoy Jazz when drinking aomori(local alcohol)... just good!
The location is pretty cool too - right in the central of Kokusaidori(international street).

Favorite Dish: Local food and drinks.

Cafe Curcuma: Great Food and an amazing view

    by terps94 Updated Jun 22, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Located in Chinen, this restaurant offers some great Thai food and select Chinese dishes. This restaurant is a bit out of the way but the view and the food is worth the trip.
While you wait to be seated you can walk around the herb garden or sit in the bench of the back of restaurant and just enjoy the view in front of you.So if you like Thai food this a place for you.

Favorite Dish: Last time I went i had the spicy chicken salad, asian spring roll set and Typhoon curry. You cant go wrong with anything you pick in the menu

    Garlic House: Vampire stay away

    by terps94 Written Apr 10, 2004

This cozy restaurant offers some great dishes like spaghetti jambalaya and awesome garlic bread. The owner ( i assumed, he's the owner) is also the waiter and cook. There are only 4 or 5 tables in this hole in the wall place. So if youre down for some good food you have to check out this place

    Favorite Dish: spaghetti jambalaya
