Favorite thing: Well... would any trip to a large city in Japan be complete without a trip up the local tower?? haha. This one was nothing special to be honest. I actually enjoyed better views from the Umeda Sky Building. The tower was very close to Den Den Town which made it an easy place to see as we were in the area anyway.
OSAKA often seems like it has no main centre and is an overwhelming maze of small streets and alleys. Although this is true - do not be shy about walking around Osaka, to where-ever the road takes you. You will always find your way back, and as safe a place as you can expect for a big city.
Fondest memory: My wife, Wendy, taking me down some backstreets to the "red light" district of Osaka. (or one of them). This happened a lot in Japan - Wendy finding these places....NOT me!
Anyway, GAL MART was worth finding, just for the photo!
Walk and take the subways - a lot!! Go shopping, eat. Osaka is a modern business city. Not much of the temple hopping to do.
Fondest memory: Just look at these weekend shopping crowds at Umeda!!
Favorite thing: While in Osaka I recommend walking around on foot. I came across this interesting temple whilst walking around Osaka. It is an mixture of modern and old architecture.
