Ponte Vecchio Sud: A very interesting cross between Italy and Japan

This is a rather high class restaurant and rather pricy. The food here has a clear Italian feel but also a strong Japanese undertone. It is split in two parts: the bar and the restaurant. The restaurant is no smoking. The wine selection is great but the portions are tiny. No view at least I didnt notice any. Service is good as you would expect and the atmosphere is nice. There are 4 Ponre Vecchio restaurants spread throughout Osaka but this is the only one I have visited.
Reccomended for a special occasion like aniversaries or if you would like to impress your japanese counterpart.
It would be a good idea to book beforehand if going on a Friday or Saturday.

Favorite Dish: The thin crust pizzas here are some of the best to be found in Osaka.

The restaurant is located at Mall Izumisano, a minute's walk away from Hotel Seagull. I had a simple bento (with miso soup, mackerel, veggie tempura and rice). Eyelovet! Cel had a weird dinner set with an oily ramen and a rice bowl. Price was expensive as expected in Osaka

Favorite Dish: My simple bento!

Most department stores: Hungry from shopping?

waiting for a restaurant

Most departmentstores has restaurants inside. So if you get hungry during shopping just go the restaurant floor. Most times it is one of the upper floors. And on this floor there are several small restaurants. When you go during lunchtime or at peaktime at night, you will sure encounter waiting people. Usually there are chairs in front of the restaurant where you can wait in line. Each time a table gets free, the enttire row is moving a few chairs towards the entrance.

At the soba restaurant on the 7th floor of the Hep5 building, you order while you are waiting outside and since the window is full of plastic models of all the meals, just POINT! :)

Favorite Dish: Soba noodles with tempura! $850!

Q:  Hi, I will be travelling to Osaka in a few days and I would like to ask when will the rush hours be around? Thanks!

A: I don't live in Osaka, but rush hour should be the same as in every other major city. 7:30-9:00am and 5:30-7:00pm. If it is anything like Tokyo, the evening rush can...
