A must see in Osaka is the Aquarium, located 5 minutes walk from Osakako station on the Chuo line.
The building is impressive and allows you to spiral down around a massive central tank and 13 others, enabling you to see the animals at different depths.
The entry charge of 2000 yen may seem a little expensive, but it is well worth it.
Try to get to the Aquarium in the afternoon during the week - school parties tend to have left by then - in the morning it can be a nightmare!
On my most recent visit i went at 6pm (the Aquarium is open until 8) - this left us just about enough time to get round the exhibits comfortably. the big advantage was that we had the place virtually to ourselves. The disadvantage was that the lights were dimmed on the penguins exhibit and there was no activity from them or the sea lions who also seemed to have settled for the night.

As Osaka is an important Japanese/Asian port, it's natural to assume there's an aquarium here.
The complex around the aquarium here (Tempozan Harbor Village) is a great way to spend the day with the kids, or on your own.
Within walking distance of the subway are:
- Universal Studios Japan
- Osaka Aquarium
- Suntory Museum
- Tempozan Marketplace
...and a further subway stop or two (or a good heathy walk):
- Osaka Maritime Museum
- Nanko Bird Sanctuary
- Asia World trade Centre (business)
- great shopping

The Kaiyukan is Osaka's aquarium, located in Tempozan Harbor. It is a large aquarium with excellent exhibits. There is a central tank that extends up a few floors so that you can see it from various angles.
The light displays in my pictures are just outside of the Kaiyukan in November and December for Christmas. There are street performers here many evenings, as well.
Entrance to the aquarium is 2000 yen.

700 yen will buy you a trip around the Osaka Ferris wheel which lasts 15 minutes. Ferris wheels are not renowned for thier thrill factor, but this one is very big and is pretty scarey for those of us without good heads for heights.
Go during the day for a decent view of the city (though the view from the Osaka World Trade Centre's 55th floor is much better! (just one stop away at Cosmosquare)) or at night to see it illuminated (when it is much more attractive).
Interestingly the big wheel also acts as an indicator of the following days weather. Pink means that the weather will be fine, Green means it will be moderate and steel blue predicts rain.

I saw the amazing long glass tunnel under the water in this aquarium. The aquarium was very large. There were also many fishes and other ocean creatures there. I liked to visit this aquarium very much.

Osaka Aquarium is a great place to spend the day and see sea creatures with your family and/or friends. Be very careful though, if you take small children. The place gets so crowded that if your child wanders off, like mine did, you'll be running around frantically trying to find the child. Luckily, Japan is a generally safe place to lose a child. Mine wandered downstairs to the help booth and ended up staying there with another child that had done the same thing playing a game while waiting for me to come pick her up. The aquarium, though, has some great ocean life swimming around in the tanks. So don't forget your camera and a leash for your kid.

This is an excellent aquarium famous for its whale shark. There`s lots to see & you`ll be amazed by the exhibits! Penguins, sea otters, jelly fish, giant spider crab, sardines, anchovies, sea turtles, a sloth, toucan, salamanders, octopus, lobsters, etc. Each exhibit area corresponds with an area on the earth: The Pacific Ocean, Ecuador Rain Forest, Cook Strait, Japan Deeps, Monterey Bay, Tasman Sea, Great Barrier Reef, among others.
It`s costly to come here (adults over 16 yrs old: 2000yen) but I think it`s worth it. Great for adults as well as kids. There`s alot to see & the aquarium is large & clean & modern. You won`t feel cheated for your money.
This aquarium is also wheelchair accessable.

It's huge and the fish are pretty big too!
There are big 'Star Wars like monster crabs'! and sharks and the biggest stingrays you've ever seen!
There is a huge tank in the middle which you walk
around and descend lower and lower so you see all the different levels of life which gives the impression that it's a completely different tank.
