Looking for a cheap place to eat in Japan, well look no further than Cocoichiban which serves up good size portions of Japanese curry. If you’re unfamiliar with the Japanese take on curry then let me school you. Japanese curry is thicker than Indian curry, so it’s more like stew. There is also no dipping bread or naan. Instead, the curry is served on a bed of rice. There is a huge selection of curry to choose from as well English (and various other languages) menu. You can build your own curry, choose how much rice and/or spice you want.
My personal favorite is paripari chicken curry. Now that good eats! Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Cocoichiban can be found nation wide in Japan.

This was such a great place. We ate yakatori which is made from several bite-sized pieces of chicken meat, or chicken offal, skewered on a bamboo skewer and barbecued, usually over charcoal. They also have bite size pieces of meat, veggies, squid, fried fish skin and various other types. This was located in Ouchi an outskirt area of Karatsu City in the Saga prefecture so it might just be out of your way especially if you are taking the train. As for exzact location you will have to search for it based on the name in the picture. Each skewer is $2-3 dollars and it does take quite some while like 40 minutes to get your first order but then again the reason why yakatori tastes so good is them cooking it for a long time. It is considered rude in Japan to ask them to hurry up. This place can get really busy in a hurry. We went here to celebrate mothers day for my husbands mom. Four of us it only cost $90 and that was for a whole lot of meat and about 9 mugs of beer. The have traditional style seating and western style seating. There is only one bathroom so when its busy you might want to go while there is an opening especially if you are drinking like I was or you may be waiting a while.
Everthing with veggies, chicken or beef but no squid for me. This restaurant is located inside a market called "The Wholesalers Market Towers, Tokyo". After walking and sightseeing the whole day, it's a good place to come to for a quick and warm dinner. It's more of a fast food type. Besides ramen, they also serve some other food like gyoza.
The regular ramen (not the spicy). Theme: Fast FoodPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Odaiba, TokyoDirections: Inside the wholesalers market tower

So you've been walking for miles after sightseeings or shopping or whatnot. You've now arrived at the Asakusa Tempe in Tokyo and you see lots of vendors selling food. It's around lunchtime, and you're hungry. Or maybe you're hungry just of the vendors selling food. So you're thinking "Why don't I just sit down at any of the vendors, and order food there" right? Well, technically, yes, you could do that. But if you can wait to go to other restaurants, that'd be better. I'm not saying that all the food there are all that bad. No. If you want to get something quick to go, some of them are ok. I'd just recommend that if you want to sit down and eat at one of the vendors, you might want to consider other places.

In the middle of the mountains, near to Shizuoka city, there's a local restaurant popular called "Yamame Shop" and its a only fish restaurant. Their principal attractive is the Yamame. It's a fish taken from the river and they cook it in many kinds: sashimi, fried, on oven style....and the best: at the barbecue! They make other things at the barbecue as : shiitake -japanese mushrooms-, chicken (as yakitori)....
This place is known for the Yamame at the barbecue. They put one fish near the barbecue and then they left him a couple of minutes.... Then, its ready to it! I've ate a minicrabs made also at the barbecue -they remind me a chips-.... Kaiten Zuishi is a cheap and easy way to gain an appreciation for Japanese sushi, if you haven't already done so. The advantage of kaiten zuishi restaurants are that they are popular enough so that there are many of them throughout Japan. They are far cheaper than traditional sushi bars (but, it is said the quality isn't as good). Overall, in a Kaiten Zuishi restaurant you get more bang for you buck meaning it's a lot easier to eat as much as you want here and not to feel like you're going away poor. Many of the dishes offered at Kaiten Zuishi bars offer sushi for only 120 yen or so per dish. There are more expensive dishes of course, so be sure to learn how much it's going to cost you before you touch the dish. Once you pick it up, you can't put it back.
I really like maguro (tuna). It's the deep red one. I also like anago (Japanese fresh water eel basted in a secret Japanese sauce). Leave a Comment Theme: Japanese/SushiPrice: US$31-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: throughout Japan
