There are many MaDdonald's burger shopes at any place in Japan same as your country. If you have had enough of Japanese dishes, you can go there.[Back to Japan]

Ramen is soup and noodles with a sprinkling of meat and vegetables. The soup, extracted from pig or chicken bones, has a distinctive flavor, each Ramen shop exercises its creative in making noodles and choosing tapping for the best taste.[Back to Japan]

Takoyaki is a Japanese popular fast food mostly sold on the street.Takoyaki means baked octopus dumpling made of diced octopus, fine cut cabbage, and tempura scraps, tapped with okonomiyaki sauce, green laver, kakuobushi and mayonnaise. You can find the Takoyaki at any place in Japan.[Back to Japan]

In newsagents, supermarkets, cornershops etc or from street vendors you can get a cheap boxed lunch aka Bento. This is a meal containing rice, meat or fish and vegetables. The meal is good to eat either cold or hot and most places has microwave a and will offer to heat the food for you. This is a great when you are travelling on a budget or out on a daytrip and dont want to spend money on a restaurant. The meals I have had have been filling and tasty. I usually go for "tonkatsu" which is a deep fried pork chop and its usually served with rive and a sweet and sour sauce. A Bento tempura is also nice, deep fried vegetables in a light batter, not too greasy!

The first few times I walked pass this place in Kyoto I couldnt believe what I saw.. A neverending line of people waiting to get their hands on a pancake. But that wasnt really it. The bizarre thing was the uniformed guard making sure nobody jumped the que... or what was he really doing??Of course me and my friend had to see what this was all about. And one lucky day we walked pass and there was no que at all.. - pancake-time!!!!As a lot of places in Japan this one too had a plastic food board. Perfect for the ones not being able to order in Japanese (people like me at the time..). Simply point!Problem: which pancake to get!!! Too much to choose from! The modern dilemma ;)Solution: close your eyes and point! Pancake with sliced banana, chocolate pieces sprinkled on top, choc AND vanilla icecream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. or (yup we came back)Pancake with vanilla curd,...

This place is one highly recommended if you're in Nara. The food is prepared at your table, and cooked on your table! All ingredients are brought to the table in bowls and then mixed in front of you and cooked on the hotplates so watch your hands! It is VERY hot. Makes the ice-cold beer go down like a treat.Fun. Friendly staff. And YUMMY! Okonomiyaki with udon, mushrooms, tuna, shrimps and lots of cheese.

Japan has plenty of roof top beer gardens, where for a set fee, patrons can consume as much beer and food as they like during the allotted timeframe.Usually the price is about 3000-3500 yen for 2-4 hours. These places tend to operate in the summer only.Great places!
One of the surprises of Japan is the variety and spread of the food. Quantity is small, more vegetables than meat. A lot of sauces are used even for a breakfast.Usually toast with butter and jam and a cup of hot coffee breakfast person, I was intrigued by the amount of breakfast prepared by a Japanese family I was staying with. Memorable dishes are raw egg over steamy rice and cherry blossom leaf over rice cake.Every is small but well thought of. Lot of small dishes to wash after I left.

This is a fabulous place for a night-time snack, specially after a few beers. They will make you love the decor even more! The food is good, kinda average. Cheap though. But this place is special for its interior and decor! Finally a proof that the Japanese got a great sence of humour! Nasty and filthy and weird and hilarious! (see pics and you'll get my point).A must do in Kyoto. Some okonmiyaki-like dish... they grill them just outside the place!
