In 1870's Yagi Chushichi who was a master of HUTABA Ryokan ; japanese hotel madeChushichi-meshi. Tesshu Yamaoka who was bushi in Edo era ordered Chushichi to make dish having spirit of Zen which is on kind of Buddhism. Chushichi finally made special dish for Tesshu. This dish was called Chushichi-meshi, and after 70years, there was a contest to decide 5 representative local dishes in Japan. This dish with Zen spirit was decided as one of them. Now, we can try Chushichi-meshi only at Hutaba Ryokan.
Favorite Dish: Chushichi-Meshi!! with some small japanese plates. You serve rice sprinkled with nori into your bowl and pour japanese soup over rice, and eat with some kinds of japanese pickles. This soup is very nice, thick and tasty.
