Nino-oka Shrine is located at the villa houses area close to Peace Park. It is best known by the locations for samurai dramas such as Sanjuro, Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa and Zatoichi by Takeshi Kitano. The shrine has old stone lantern erected in 1429, the oldest in eastern part of Shizuoka prefecture. Cedar woods around the shrine is really beautiful. It is very calm and peaceful place. The shrine and villa area is also used for jogging. The unpaved road leading to the shrine has little traffic even during weekends. It is said the Gotemba as the summer retreat started when an American was lost near the shrine and saved by the shrine chief. Since then, lots of Americans started to build summer houses near the Nino-oka shrine for the views of Mount Fuji and the place was given a nickname of American Village. Currently the area is still a quiet villa area.

The serene shrine grounds are used as one of the locations for Akira Kurosawa's Sanjuro. Located about 100 meters east of Lake Higashiyama.
