It is hard to believe only walking distance from Sun Street Hamakita, huge shopping complex with full of parked cars, there's a nice temple and a garden park. If you walk past the northernmost part of the complex you will find a small hill. Walk toward the hill following the direction board for Manyo-no-Mori Park. Climb the stone stairs of Fudoji temple after passing the red gate. Fudoji temple and Manyo-no-Mori park is connected. Walk upward hill by climbing another stairs and you will find the entrance of Manyo-no-Mori Park.

From Hamamatsu, Nagoya, Osaka, and Kyoto and western part of Japan, to Hamakita Forest Park, get off Hamamatsu station and change trains there to Enshu Tetsudo Line. To get to Birdpia Hamakita, headquarter facility of the forest park, get off at Gansuiji station. It takes about twenty minutes on foot to Gansuiji temple. After visiting Gansuiji Temple, there's a paved road uphill to the forest park. Birdpia Hamakita is about forty minutes on foot from Gansuiji temple. Gansuiji station of Entetsu Line is twice as far from Gansuiji temple as that of Enshu Hamanako Line. Walk westward from the station until you meet Prefectural Road(Kendo #304) Turn right to get northward along kendo #304 about 15 minutes walk you will see the entrance gate of Gansuiji temple.

Finding Enshu Tetudo Line(Entetsu Line in short) is not easy. To get to Shinhamamatsu station the start of Entetsu line. First go toward North Exit of JR Hamamatsu station and turn left at the signboard. And you go through the passage in nearby building until you find a station. One good thing about Entetsu line ticket machine is you can convert the language from Japanese to English. The train runs five or six times an hour.

**Gansuiji station is unmanned. Hand the ticket to the train conductor before getting off.

From local JR train to tenryu hamanako line#1

To get to Hamakita Forest Park from Shizuoka, Tokyo, first get off Shinkansen Kodama express at Kakegawa and change trains there to Tenryu-Hamanako Line. Tenryu Hamanako Line entrance is at #1 platform of JR Tokaido Line. It takes about one hour to reach Gansuiji station. When you get off the train remember to hand your ticket to the train conductor. Gansuiji station is an unmanned station. After getting off the train at Gansuiji station go toward the Gansuiji Temple first. After visiting Gansuiji Temple there's a paved road to Birdpia Hamakita and it takes about forty minutes on foot to Birdpia Hamakita, headquarter facility of the forest park. I recommend this Gansuiji and Forest Park combination.

From Nagoya to Forest Park, first you have to get off at Toyohashi and change to local train for Hamamatsu or Shizuoka. Due to scheduled blackout, Tokaido Line might be running with reduced schedule. Change trains at Shinjohara to get on Enshu Hamanako Line. From eastbound route the closest train station is Miyaguchi which is unmanned. Forest Park is about 30 minutes from the station.
