Favorite thing: Hamamatsu Tourist Information Center is located right ahead of Shinkansen exit of Hamamatsu station near the south exit of the station. There are four useful English language guidebooks on Hamamatsu destinations. PORTABLE GUIDEBOOK: general guidebooks on entire Hamamtsu tourist destinations. IKU-NAVI: A transportation guidebook. MIRU-NAVI: Guide on major destinations in Hamamatsu. HAMAMAP: Maps on major areas in Hamamatsu.

Favorite thing: On the top floor of the ZaZa City shopping centre is a place called Childrens Plaza. It is a 2 floor playground for children with all sorts of areas. There are two ball pits, heaps of climbing area's, a music room and special play area with toys for babies. It's 200 Yen for adults, less for children and free for babies/toddlers.

Favorite thing: In the bottom of all the shopping malls in Hamamatsu are Supermarkets and Food Courts. This is a great place to buy cheap dinners, they have pre-made boxes of all sorts of Japanese style meals ..... and even Sandwiches for the Westerners who need a taste of home.
We have stocked up on a few items and are now eating breakfast in our hotel room each day saving around 1,000 Yen a day.

Favorite thing: Hamamatsu is an industrial city in central Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture. Situated roughly halfway between Tokyo and Osaka, the city of 560,000 people producess home of the world's best motorcycles, musical instruments and cars, with brand names like Yamaha, Kawai, Suzuki and Honda. this
industry brings many brazilians here- the most in japan!
Hamamatsu's central location made it strategically important in the Shogun era, evidenced by Hamamatsu Castle, built in 1570, and crucial battles that were fought nearby. Hamamatsu's cityscape was devastated during World War II, but has been vitally reconstructed. That is best symbolized in its modern ACT City convention and cultural center with shopping and dining also.
Nowadays, Hamamatsu is also a ground transport hub, and the site of Japan's only inland container terminal. Despite so much bustle, however, the Hamamatsu area has considerable rural appeal. Fishing and forestry enterprises thrive here
Venture outside of Hamamatsu and you'll find a distinct outdoor attraction in every direction. To the north there are mountains (e.g. Mt. Fuji), while the Pacific Ocean lies to the south, the Tenryu River to the east, and to the west, Lake Haman, one of Japan's most popular resort areas.
