The shrine built in 1872 in the area formerly a part of Ryotanji temple serves as the imperial grave for Prince Munenaga, the eighth son of Emperor Godaigo and is best known as the chief compiler of Shinyo Wakashu (the Waka Collection of New Leaves). It is said that Ii family supported the prince while he was in Iinoya area during Nanboku-cho Period when the imperial family was divided into North Court and South Court. Iinoya was then the one of the bases for South Court forces. The shrine is located beyond the zen garden and there's the passage from Ryotanji temple passing the graveyard area. (See photo #3 and #4)

The birthplace well of Tomoyasu Ii is located close to the Ryotanji Temple known by its beautiful Japanese garden. Tomoyasu Ii, who was adopted son of Tomosuke Fujiwara, one of the decendants of Fujiwara Hokke family, was said to have been born beside the well close to the shrine in early 11th century. A shrine priest picked the baby and nurtured him until he was seven and was adopted to Tomosuke Fujiwara. Later Tomoyasu renamed himself Tomoyasu Ii after the nameplace he was born and raised. During civil war era in late 16th century Ii clan served under Imagawa clan but later switched sides to serve for Iyeyasu Tokugawa and Naomasa Ii became the lord of Hikone, Shiga. When Naomasa was moved to Hikone he built another Ryotanji temple in Hikone as a subsidiary temple.

If you love flower you might be enjoy here. But if not this place might be boring for you. I like here but not love. But this place renewal lately so I saw many unusual plants, and flowers. You'll see huge hothouse at first.Inside is very nice. There are many style like Bali island area,Alice in wonderland area and Mexico area and so on. You also find big fountain. You can see water show every 30mins.
Admission fee is adult 800yen. Child is 350yen. If you choose zoo also ,it's 1100yen. ( next to flower park is zoo) . If you go to there after 6pm,it's getting cheeper. I think night flower park is much better for couple.

Hamamatsu have a only one zoo. But it's located very nice place. You can see Hamana lake and nature. This zoo is just next to Flower park. So if you have enough time, I recommend to visit both places. Because you can get bit discount for entrant tickets.
Adult is only 400 yen. Flowerpark and zoo pack is 1100 yen.
Zoo entrant gate is very cute. Polar bear are kissing!!
