Coreopsis flowers, popular gardening plants in Europe are one of the common flowers in Japan that can be seen in riverbanks, roadside and even sea coast in Miho. Since the law to contain the spread of invasive alien plants endangering the native plants passed in 2006, some of coreopsis flowers, particularly, Coreopsis lanceolata or lance-leaved coreopsis have been forbidden to plant for horticulturing and gardening and those flowering in the wild are destined to be exterminated. NEVER plant coreopsis lanceolata in Japan or you will face fine or worse might go to jail.
