Luggage and bags: Most Tokaido trip can be well segmented enough for a day trip. No camping gear is necessary. But dining can be a problem. So prepare your lunch.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Hakone hike can either be unexpectedly chilly or unusually warm. Clothes that can adapt to either situation is ideal. Hakone hike overall has shade but when joining at the turnpikes you may feel a bit too hot. Raining gear is necessary particularly from Spring to mid Autumn when the weather is changeable.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: UV care is a must. Medical kit can be helpful in case for snake bites or bee attacks.
Miscellaneous: Tokaido Maps: 01 and 02. You can find them at the top page of my Mishima page.
