Japanese handphones are, generally, clamshell type and very rectangular (not interesting) but may be pack with features. Some of the dummy handset, by Softbank, seen from a outdoor display in Sapporo.

I really had difficulty shopping for souvenirs throughout Japan. Most gift shops only carried children's small toys, school supplies or cell phone accessories. I even found difficulty finding postcards. I purchase most of my souvenirs of saki sets, silk robes, key chains, t-shirts, and food gifts at the Narita Airport. I also found some cool gifts at 100 Yen (Dollar) stores. While visiting the Silver temple in Kyoto, there were a few souvenir shops along the road to the temple. If you can find a really good tea shop or visit a tea factory (Kuraya Narusawa), the best thing to get in Japan is tea . I managed to buy a bundle of different types of tea in Nariyama. I bought a kimono in Harajuku at Tokyo 135 for a few hundred dollars.

Ginza is the place where you will find luxuary brands like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Fendi and many others. For Burberry fans, you will find the unique collection "Burberry Black Label" for men and "Burberry Blue Label" for women Prices (comparing with euro) are very interesting !!

If you collect Kabukis, make sure to pack them really, really good. The glass frames of each kabuki can be removed. Remove the top of the kabuki frame and all the four sides. Cover these glasses with bubble wrap and make sure to tape them. The doll can be wrapped with newspaper. Packing for shipping is very, very tricky. If you don't pack them correctly, you will end up being disappointed when the glasses are broken because of shipping and handling at the airport! Kabukis $30.00-120.00 -depending on how big the kabuki is.

It all depends on what you plan on buy, eat, and stay & where you are going to be traveling. Prices are for two peopleAirfare For $1900Rail Pass $560Hotels $380=$2840So we spent roughly $2800 on everthing else for my husband & I. Food, entrance fees, shows, transportaion not covered by rail pass, souveneirs and gifts, plus nesscary items we forgot to bring with us.We stayed in Japan very comforatble. Ate at lower priced restaurants like small noodles shops, or bento boxes and also ate kobe beef which was $160 for both of us. Or some souveneirs were $5 or $155 for a pottery vase that lights up. If we did not eat at the more expensive restaurants and did not have to buy gifts for our rather large family and stuck to cheaper souveneirs we could of saved about $900So For a week I would take $2000 spending cash after airfare, hotels etc at minimum for two people. Transportation that was not...
If your like me when I went here I wanted to buy gifts to bring home for family and friends. One thing I noticed when asking about fans and why there were the diffrent prices like $5 for one and $20 for others is the cheaper ones are made in China. I do not know about you but when I go somewhere I do not want to buy something that is not made in the country I am at and In japan there are many shops that sell handmade Japanese crafts. However also in these shops to cater to the more cheaper tastes they also sell things from China so right next to a Japanese item may be something made from China. Be sure to ask or look for a tag that says where it was made. Most japanese crafts are marked with made in Japan. If you do not see a tag or know if its made in Japan leave it behind and find another place to buy your item. Sometimes the items can look very similar. Obviousley if you look close...
This is just a precautionary measure. When buying electronics in Japan, make sure to ask the store keeper or seller to give you a receipt for immigration purposes. You will probably needed this when you pass immigration going home! When you buy an imitation samurai, make sure to get a declaration that what you bought is not a real samurai! There is a government policy in Japan that protects real samurai to get out of their country! What To Buy: Electronics, computers and also samurai or imitation samurai Electronics and samurai Not applicable - depends on what you buy to bring home

In Japan beer is taxed based on its malt content.Whilst I prefer normal beer, Happoshu (low malt beer) is something I do sometimes drink, particularly if I am at home.Simple, it's around 70-80 yen cheaper for a 500ml can. That's a big difference. If you don't mind giving up a little in taste to save money, Happoshu will do the trick. If you're in the convenience store, or supermarket, and you're wondering why some brands of beer are cheaper than others, it's all in the malt content.
If you’re after comics or Japanese toys and stuff, this is the shop to go to. Mandarake in Shibuya is huge. Like massively huge and if you tried to take note of everything, you’ll be spending a good 2 or 3 hours there. They have so many action figures and stuff that I bet the owners or workers don’t even know what they have. If you’re into Star Wars or Ultraman, Manga sleaze or violent brutality, this place sells it all. I could have spent so much here but I was taken out before it was too late. Thanks guys! You will find many limited edition toys and collectables at the market type toy shops in Nakano. Some of the toys I have bought here are now higher in value and worth more now and are selling on ebay for a lot higher prices than what I paid for them when I was there a few months ago. A lot!
