There are several options here. Is this banana choko a food? Is it a "toy"? Who knows.. it could mean music for some people. A hobbie for others... And if you pressed me too much a bath!!!! Incredible 21 years around and have never bought one of those for my girl . At home, and on this particular matters, I do agree with the "Generalissimo" (-; Franco Bahamonde and his autarky: "A policy of national SELF-SUFFICIENCY and nonreliance on imports or economic aid." Viva V!!!!! (-; NEVER NEVER

its overwhelming how many types of tea there are in japan :)) i love trying all different ones :)) it is a very respectable souvenir as well, u can buy them in wonderful porcelain pottery and they might cost 20 000 yen or so :)) but hey, who can resist!!! after all green tea provokes health and will equip u with a long life, as proved by the science!!! in the photo, green tea, macha, tea of full corn rice, gemmacha, tea of buchwheat, sobacha :)) they all have distinctive flavours and are sooooo yummy for ur tummy ;))) happy sipping!!!!

Forget your camera at the Golden Pavillion. Don't fret. Japanese vending machines carry an astonishing array of products. I'm sure you've heard the lurid stories of intimate items sold in vending machines. Personally I didn't see any of that , but it is true that you can get lots of useful things.

Japanese street vending machines are everywhere. I took great delight in them because for the price of 120 YEN or so, you could try some new and interesting little treat that you might not even have any clue about. Kind of like a fun little lucky dip. As for drinks, you'll have iced coffees, iced teas, vitamin and amino drinks (basically sugar water), sports drinks (the hilariously name Calpis and Pocari Sweat) I have no idea what a Pocari is but I don't want to drink its sweat. Actually it's good. Lots of yogurty flavoured lemony drinks like Bikkle (reminded me of travis bickle of Taxi Driver). Have some fun. One tip: it's generally considered barbaric to walk down the street eating and drinking. Enjoy your choice near the vending machine and then recycle at the built in waste basket. I never once saw a Japanese vending machine that didn't have change or that was out of order. Boss...

You can get anything here! All 100yen (about $0.99 US)I got a ceramic tea "urn", a racoon figurine, 2 packs of origami paper, a chicken-shaped kitchen timer, cards, rice paper......so much stuff! everything! Its cheaper here to buy Japanese (and chinese-made) goods than in the US...i.e. a pack of origami paper is 100yen, in the USa it is $4.00 if you're lucky! 100 yen!

Many shops sell gadgets to use with your mobile phone. There are little puppets or animals that you hang on your phone. And there are special antenna that will light up when you are called, or are calling someone. Choice is big. The antenna will not work on foreign mobile phones, but the small puppets are a nice souvenir. Probably far too much. It is a hype and you can see that in the prices. 500 Yen for a small puppet at least.

Almost every temple sells good luck charms. They come in all shapes and sizes and do make nice souvenirs. There are good luck charms for different occasions, sometimes it is indicated in english. Buy a safe driving luck charm or a good health one. Prices from 500 Yen and up.

Right next to Kaminari-mon, the gate entrance to Asakusa, is Kurodaya, a shop which sells paper goods. I am nuts over washi, the handmade mulberry bark paper, so naturally I lost my mind in this place. They have washi with printed designs depicting scenes of old Edo, kanji script, and other designs. I bought small washi scraps, too, one interesting one had sumo wrestlers block-printed on it. Cheaper than in the U.S.
Souvenir shop with four floors of everything Japanese: you name it, it's here! I bought yukatas, umbrellas, geta (wooden sandals), origami paper, miniature screens, etc. If you don't have a lot of time in Japan, you can do all your souvenir shopping in one store.
