Everybody who comes to Japan ends up getting really, really pissed. Upon arrival we snigger at the small 'o-chokos' that the sake comes in but the final snigger is always on the master of the drinking establishment. Sake effects us all in different ways. Unfortunately, for my victims, that is, I become a raging nymphomaniac. No man within a 20km radius is safe from my sake breath and groping, sweaty hands. I have had so many embarrassing experiences that I can blame sake on. Oh dear! If you'd like to read more, you will have to send me the sum of $16.99. For most people the view from the bay is not enough and they choose to go on a boat ride. There is a variety of choices, so you will find something for yourself for sure!!! There are cruise boats, on which you can cruise for an hour or so and even have a dinner or a drink, or typical tourist boats, that take you around the bay and the most beauitiful islands just so you can take some pictures. I heard you can even rent your own boat and avoid the crowds and the rush by boating by yourself or with family and friends. Leave a Comment

Age is to a geisha what ageis to the good rum. Not many geishas around lately but the art of geishas is part of the tradition and many troupes of traditonal dancing can be appreciated along the Archipelago. Dance in a geisha customs in despite of the age, and still showing all the sensuality that a Geisha is supposed to convey it's indeed an art. Ah!!! Where did the young geishas go? Rochelle where are you? (-; But wai... This is not a Geisha no t even she is representing a geisha in stage... Wait! Wait!! this is traditional make up for theather artist and dancers... How to explain a weterner that she is not a geisha? Impossible!!! The image is too strong: Japanese woman in kimono= geisha. So there!!! (-; Leave a Comment

The Peace Memorial Museum is probably one of the most important museums in Japan. I highly recommend a visit both for the excellence of it exhibits and for its content. The museum is dedicated to the events surrounding the fateful day of August 6, 1945 when the American armed forces dropped the A-bomb on this city which had a population of 350,000 at the time. The bomb instantly killed more that 85,000 people while another 60,000 would later die from the after effects to the bomb. The museum is divided into two buildings. The East building tells the story of Hiroshima before the bomb was dropped and discusses why the Americans chose this city as the sight of the first nuclear bombing. As you walk through this museum you can consider if the bombing was justified or not. The West building holds many excellent displays on how the bombing effected the local civilian population. There are superb exhibits in the form of dioramas, films and photographs on the results of the bombing. Seeing them is certainly sobering and very depressing. As they are also very gruesome, I would highly suggest that you not visit with small children. The museum is open daily from 9am to 6pm from April to July. They extend the hours of the museum to 7pm during the anniversary period the bombing in August. It costs 50 yen to visit the museum. If you have the chance to visit Beppu City in Oita Prefecture (well know for its hotsprings), make sure you visit the various "hell" ponds in the city. There are 8 hell ponds, including Ocean Hell, Blood Pond Hell, Mountain Hell, and Monk Hell, which where created over 1100 years ago when Mt Tsurumi exploded and left behind several boiling ponds. Ocean Hell is so named because of the natural cobalt blue color of the pond (which boils at 98 degrees F). The full tour costs about 2000 yen or about 400 yen for a single entrance. Go for the single entrance for Ocean Hell, paying the full amount is just a typical tourist rip-off. Leave a Comment Address: Beppu City, Oita PrefectureDirections: Since the ponds are difficult to find unless you can speak or read Japanese, it is recommended you take a tour from Beppu train station.Website: www.oita.netfirms.com/hotspots.htm
