Hot spring of Toya Lake, Hokkaido

by evonne

A lake area with good facilities for tourists. Many luxury hotels locates at the lake shore. Budget trevalers can also stay at B&B hostels, which is much more inexpensive. Beside lake view, the area is also famous for its hot spring resources. Almost every accommodation place has hot spring facilities which help tourists fully relax themselves.

nightview of Odaiba, Tokyo

by evonne

Odaiba is a well-designed reclamation area of the big crowd city. It became very popular in recent years because of large shopping malls, the famous Fuji Television Broadcasting building, the only sand beach of the city and, most importantly, the nightview on Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Bay. Tousists can also take ships to visit the view.

You must see the people

by manuelEB

Yeah... much more than geishas and samurais. And no, no jackets with dragons in the back as souvenirs, That's not very japanese thing. Watch around. Beautiful faces in sport women. Strong enough to shreed you in seconds. This girl is member of the All Japan Handball team, a PhD. program student at Tsukuba University and the Queen of the handball clinics for kids in the city. Yeah, japanese women are little bit more than "geishas"(in the western acceptance of the term). Iron will!!!!!

Ginza

by FlyingShanice

Ginza represents as high sociey, luxury and shopping for more than 100 years in the mind of every Japanese. The whole of Ginza was re-built and designed by an English architure after it had been destroyed at 1872.Nowadays, Ginza has still kept its image as the major expensive shopping area in Tokyo.

Onsen means Hot Spring

by manuelEB

Volcanic Islands. Eruption. Danger... Meanwhile enjoy all what the volcanic area can offer. Nothing better, healthy and relaxant than a day (or two) in a hot spring resort or Onsen. It's not going to be cheap. Think in 15-20 thousands yen per night including dinner and breakfast. Transportation from main train stations to the secluded area where the hot spring is located, could be available.Ask!!!! Always ask!!!Beside the public bath you can be lucky ($$$) enough to get a room with its own rotenburo, which is not more than a bath tube for you and her, open 24 hours and with a marvelous landscape around... Forget about jacuzzi!!!!The oriental style rocks!!!!

Shinjuku station at rush hour

by formerbackpacker

If you're going to Japan to see the real Japan, then this is a part of that reality that you should not miss. Shinjuku is one of Tokyo's main downtown centers, and is where the high-powered business district is. Consequently, the station sees the most number of passengers pass through at rush hour. If you are creative and standing in the right spot, you could get a few good photos.Shinjuku also has a great alley full of tiny yakitori-type restaurants just behind the station (though you really have to be led there to find it--I can never remember which exit to take...sorry I'm of no help here!). Entering this alley is like stepping back in time about 80 years compared to everything you see around it. As far as I remember, it was called it the "shon-ben" ("*** street").

Tsukiji fish market at dawn

by formerbackpacker

The largest fish market in the world, Tsukiji in Tokyo has mountains upon mountains of crawly and swimmy things. It's an amazing sight to see, but you have to be there extremely early, even before the sun comes up. If you have just arrived in Tokyo and are jet-lagged, this is a perfect time to go early and check it out (hey, you'll probably wake up at 4am anyway, right?).

Samurai Town, KAKUNODATE

by Sharrie

KAKUNODATE is essentially a small town between Akita & Morioka on the Akita Shinkansen Route. From Kakunodate JR Station, take a leisure stroll for about 10 mins & you'd soon be brought back in time for about 400 years to the days when the Samurais reigned. As in the accompanying pix, one can feel the different era in Japanese history by just walking through the dignified Samurai houses.Originally formed in the year of Genwa 6 (1620) by the feudal lord Yoshikatsu Ashina, Samurai houses numbered 80 & merchant houses numbered 350. Today, there's only 8 Samurai houses. In over 380 years, its structure hasn't changed in the least, esp. in the Uchimachi area; not a single corner of a street or its width has changed at all. History is still vividly alive today in Kakunodate.Directions:25 mins from Tazawako JR Station.50 mins from Morioka JR Station. 45 mins from Akita JR Station by...

Okama, ZAO-SAN

by Sharrie

OKAMA is the incredibly beautiful crater lake formed more than 380 years ago after an eruption. This is one of the most amazing sceneries one gets to see in Japan. Like a rare gem, it glows under the sunlight & on a clear day the image is so perfect that one finds it hard to leave. I was here for almost 3 hours & had such an uplifting time that it will always remain to be a treasured moment in my life.
